Hundreds have been enjoying the sun at the 33rd Marbury Merry Days two-day country fair yesterday and today (May 12 and 13)
The fair is staged in the field next to St Michael’s & All Angels Parish Church and Marbury Big Mere, three miles from Wrenbury, near Nantwich.
This year the main arena has featured the return of the Sealed Knot with combat displays between the Royalists and Roundheads featuring pike-fighting, loud muskets and thundering cannon fire, as well as a living history encampment.
Other attractions and events include a classic car and motorcycle parade, dog and terrier racing, a craft & gift fair, trade stands, vintage motor cycles, classic cars, and vintage tractors.
Youngsters have enjoyed a climbing wall, fair stalls and tombola, ice cream, children’s activity area, Pinxton Puppets show, and model aircraft flying display,.
Whitchurch Dog Display Team, Maypole Dancing, and Morris Dancing added a touch of tradition, while model railway rides and a helicopter flown in from the Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury provided added excitement.
All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the St Michael’s & All Angels Parish Church in Marbury.
