An 83-year-old woman who was hit by a lorry in Nantwich and trapped underneath, is still recovering in hospital.

The victim, believed to be from the Nantwich area, was knocked down when the HGV was reversing in a car park off Beam Heath Way, Nantwich.

She was trapped below the vehicle for some time and had to be freed by fire crews and paramedics.

Police closed off the road while the rescue took place at around 2.30pm on Saturday (April 28).

She was taken to nearby Leighton Hospital.

Cheshire Police say she remains in hospital pending tests. She is in a comfortable, stable condition.

Officers interviewed the lorry driver and other witnesses. No arrests have been made.
