Nantwich man, 22, found hanged at River Weaver bridge

A young Nantwich man’s body has been found hanged off a footbridge over the River Weaver in the town.

A passer-by out for an early morning walk made the grim discovery at around 5.45am today (April 24).

Nantwich Police have been at the scene and cordoned the area off by the bridge which crosses the river close to Nantwich Pool.

The dead man was 22-years-old and from the local area.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

The identity is not being revealed until next of kin have been informed.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “At 5.47am officers were called to a footbridge near to the swimming baths in Nantwich.

“On arrival officers discovered the body of a 22-year-old local man. There are no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
