Jimmy Quinn, Nantwich Town manager

Nantwich Town put their point deduction and FA fine behind them by thrashing Stocksbridge Park Steels 5-1.

Jimmy Quinn’s side took out their frustrations on the pitch in a rousing display in South Yorkshire last night (April 17).

Josh Lane bagged a brace on his debut as the victory moved them back to within a point of eighth place Rushall Olympic, and with a better goal difference.

Just over 120 hardy supporters braved the rain and wind, and the handful of loyal Dabbers fans were rewarded as early as the 4th minute when Lane opened the scoring.

He pounced on the loose ball after Michael Lennon’s initial shot was well saved.

The home side responded well and were level on 20 minutes through Scott Hogan, but Nantwich Town hit straight back.

This time Lennon made no mistake with a sharp finish to but the Dabbers back in control.

Stocksbridge had a great chance to level before the break when they were awarded a dubious penalty for a challenge by Andy White in the box.

But Nantwich keeper Jon Brain pulled off a fine save – and it was to prove the catalyst for a romping victory.

After the break, Nantwich attacked and were awarded a penalty of their own in the 51st minute, which Dave MacPherson coolly slotted home.

Seven minutes later, Lane put the result beyond doubt when he was sent through one on one with the keeper and finished with aplomb.

Lane almost completed a hat-trick, rifling an effort into the side netting, and Zak Foster also went close after a mazy dribble.

Substitute Si Everall completed the rout on 80 minutes, with the hosts down to 10-men.

The result sets the Dabbers up nicely for their final league game of the season away at North Ferriby United this Saturday April 21.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
