Two against Rushall - Sean Cooke, Nantwich Town (pic by Simon J Newbury) sent off at Buxton

Nantwich Town winger Sean Cooke described his goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Stafford Rangers as his “best ever” for the Dabbers.

Cooke’s 25-yard cracker came in the 89th minute and earned Nantwich a point against their local rivals.

The ex-Crewe Alexandra player says he’s never scored one as good in his time at the Weaver Stadium.

He said: “That’s probably my best goal. I scored a decent goal at Ramsbottom United but it wasn’t as good as Saturday’s.

“I just decided to hit it, we hadn’t had many shots on goal so I just decided to turn and strike it.”

Saturday’s game was Cooke’s first start for Nantwich since the Dabbers 2-1 defeat to Northwich Victoria in March.

He says he’s been putting extra hours in to force his way back into Jimmy Quinn’s starting line-up.

“I was playing well before Christmas but during January and February I didn’t play too well.

“So during a bit of a break when I was suspended I did a lot more running and work on my fitness.

“I’ve put a lot of hard work in and hopefully it’s now going to pay off.”

The Nantwich squad contained nine players under the age of 21 at Marston Road and Cooke says playing with lads his own age, most of whom he has played with before, has helped his own form.

“It’s good to be playing with the likes of Andy White, Casper Hughes and Rod McDonald as I’ve played with them all since I was nine years old.

“There’s a good understanding between all the lads and there is some good banter in the dressing room which is good to be part of.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
