A Nantwich woman who was attacked by a dog today (April 3) will have to undergo hospital treatment, say police.

The 44-year-old victim was walking her small dog along London Road, Stapeley, when a golden retriever attacked them, biting her on the arm.

It happened at around 8.45am as the victim approached the junction with Newland Way.

A woman in her mid 50s was walking the large, aggressive-looking retriever, and the victim was concerned enough that she crossed the road.

But the retriever dragged its owner behind it and went for the small dog, and then the woman, biting her on her arm.

She was later taken to hospital and is waiting to have an operation to treat the wound.

The owner of the retriever, believed to be a regular dog walker in the area, is described as a white, in her mid 50s, 5ft 6in, medium build.

She has shoulder length blonde hair and was wearing an anorak, jeans and white trainers.

Insp Mark Gammage said: “We really do need to speak to the owner.

“The injuries caused by this dog are serious enough to require surgery and we need to ensure that no one else is put at risk of being injured.

“We appeal to the owner, or anyone who knows who this lady is, to come forward with information.”

Anyone with information should contact Nantwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident number 174 of 3 April 2012.

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
