A young Nantwich man is raising money for a visit to a Romanian orphanage.

Daniel Redhead, who works at Richmond Village Nantwich, wants to travel there in July with charity Future Sense Foundation.

The 20-year-old Durham University student will be working out for a month, helping at an orphanage in Transylvania.

Future Sense helps people in social, emotional and economic poverty.

His university has teamed up with the foundation to organise the trip to help renovate part of the orphanage.

Daniel will also be helping to teach English, and  setting up a summer camp for local children.

He has raised £700 after managing to stay silent for five days. His next challenge is to hike 80 miles along Hadrian’s Wall dressed as a Roman.

Daniel said: “This expedition is extremely important. In 2010, there were 62,000 orphans and UNICEF believes this number will increase by 9,000 per year.

“The Romanian government is finding it very hard to support this huge number of children and I want to do my bit by raising awareness and getting involved as best I can.”

Nicola Tooke, Richmond Village advisor, said: “We are extremely proud of Daniel, especially when we heard that he managed to stay silent for five days!

“Over the next few weeks we will be holding various fund raising activities in the Village to help Daniel reach his target.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
