A Nantwich man arrested in connection with the A530 road death of pensioner Michael Betts has been re-bailed by Cheshire Police.

The 21-year-old was arrested after Mr Betts, 74, was killed when he was hit by a van as he was walking along Middlewich Road, Nantwich, near Alvaston Hall Hotel.

A white Mercedes sprinter van was overtaking another vehicle when it hit Mr Betts, from Wistaston, who was walking along the Nantwich-bound carriageway, on December 17, 2011.

The 21-year-old, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was questioned and released on police bail until last week.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police spokesman confirmed he has now been re-bailed until a date in late April.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
