Crewe Amateur Musicals Society brought the swinging 60’s back to The Lyceum this week with their production of ‘Sweet Charity’, writes Claire Faulkner.
Directed by Fiona O’Connor, this musical was packed full of fun with great dance routines and live music.
Musical numbers including ‘Big Spender’ and ‘Rhythm of Life’ tell the story of Charity, a young woman looking for ever lasting love in a changing world.
C.A.M.S. always present a good production backed with a strong cast and crew.
‘Sweet Charity’ continues this tradition and has everything a good musical should have. Fun, laughter, songs and of course great music.
Heather Taylor, played the lead of Charity, who seemed to be on stage for the entire production, must be credited for all her hard work and great performance.
As the audience follows Charity’s ups and downs in her quest for love, we meet Oscar, wonderfully played by Steven Turnbull.
Could he be her knight in shining armour? Will she be successful? You’ll have to go and see for yourself. Sweet Charity is on at The Lyceum until Saturday March 24.
Well done C.A.M.S!
Glad the show went well, film was on ITV1 this week too.
Anyone know what happened to Paul Aucott who used to direct the groups shows?
