A spellbound audience watched The Kipling Singers perform a concert in St Mary’s Church Hall in Wistaston.

The Kipling Singers are a group of ten people who performed a range of classic songs from muscials and stage shows.

It consists of Master of Ceremonies Caroline Greatbanks; Sapranos Carol Spencer, Linda Race, and Lesley Smith; Altos Annette Elliott, Dena Goodrich; Tenors Eric Denyer, David Elliott; and Baritones David Greatbanks (Musical Director) and Darren Thornhill.

They sang solo and as an ensemble hits from The Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll & Hyde, My Fair Lady, The Lion King, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Kiss Me Kate, Evita, Kismet, The Pirates of Penzance, Love Never Dies, and The Sound of Music.

They also performed popular light music such as Gershwin and King of Swings medleys, along with chart classics Simon & Garfunkel and The Beatles.

Organiser Geoff Armitage, of Wistaston Community Council, said: “It was a fabulous evening of perfect singing which filled the hall from end to end.”

The event was organised by the Wistaston Community Council and proceeds go to other Wistaston village events, such as the village fete, flower and produce show, Christmas concerts, and the November fireworks display.

The Kipling Singers, founded in 1991, have performed across Cheshire and North Staffordshire, raising funds for good causes, as well as providing entertainment at local clubs and societies.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
