A Nantwich couple celebrated Valentine’s Day in their diamond anniversary year with a little help from their local supermarket.

James and Kathleen Wootton, from Baddiley, were invited in to Sainsbury’s on Middlewich Road for a special Valentine’s lunch.

The couple, married 60 years, met in Crewe where James was an electronics engineer and Kathleen worked at the West Street Co-operative.

They later married at St Barnabas’ Church in West Street and honeymooned in Blackpool, where they recall how cold it was and how few luxuries there were as many ex-servicemen were billeted there.

They moved to Baddiley 40 years ago and are very popular with residents in the village.

Sainsbury’s Nantwich spokeswoman Olwyn Payton said: “I see them regularly as they live near me and they come into the store at least once a week.

“They are a true example to us all: always positive and optimistic.

“They said the secret to their long and happy marriage is that they have never stopped caring for one another and that they have always been willing to give and take.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
