Stapeley Water Gardens site, London Road entrance

A housing developer is to unveil its plans for around 150 new homes on the former Stapeley Water Gardens site in Nantwich.

David Wilson Homes is preparing a detailed application to redevelop the site on London Road.

It follows outline planning approval for the site given by Cheshire East Council during 2011.

David Wilson says they will redevelop the brownfield site to provide new family homes, as well as a proportion of affordable housing for first time buyers struggling to get their foot on the property ladder.

Plans will include landscaping throughout the development as well as a children’s play area.

The firm says it will be informing residents about the proposals, inviting people to comment on the plans.

It’s the most advanced of four potential major housing schemes that have emerged for the Nantwich area in the last few months.

Many residents are already concerned about over-development of outlying areas, lack of school spaces and impact on surrounding roads.

Andrew Taylor, planning director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “Over the last year, we have been working hard to design a scheme which will complement the character of the area.

“Our scheme will help deliver much-needed new homes and offers an alternative to building on greenfield sites in the area.

“We remain committed to engaging with local people about our plans and will shortly be providing further information to the local community about the details of our scheme.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
