Top British explorer Colin Mortlake visited Reaseheath College in Nantwich to give adventure sports students a walk on the wild side.

Colin, an author renowned for his respect for the natural environment, spoke to 80 students who study conservation and sustainability.

He described some of the challenges faced during his worldwide expeditions, and spoke of the part wild places play in our wellbeing and the need to preserve them.

Colin was one of Britain’s top rock climbers in the 1960s, and was also an expert kayaker and surfer.

He is the founder of the National Association for Outdoor Education and of the Adventure and Environmental Awareness Group, leading projects near his home in the Lake District.

Reaseheath’s eco college coordinator Richard Hathway said: “Colin is one of the most experienced, knowledgeable and respected people in the world on the subject of adventure and wild nature.

“The talk provoked much discussion among the students. Hopefully it has helped them to formulate their own ideas and beliefs of how to use wild places within their future careers.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
