A Nantwich couple have enjoyed a Diamond Jubilee of their own after celebrating 60 years of marriage.

David and Doreen Mason, of Riverside, Nantwich, crowned their diamond wedding anniversary on January 22.

Members of the U3A Local History Group joined in the celebrations by presenting David and Doreen with an anniversary cake, a basket of flowers and a card signed by all the members.

The couple also celebrated with friends and family who were present at the wedding with a meal at The Crown Hotel, Nantwich.

David and Doreen are founder members of the Crewe & Nantwich U3A (University of the Third Age), which has over 1,400 members and organises over 90 courses in South Cheshire.

“The secret of our long and happy marriage of 60 years is based on give and take,” said David.

David and Doreen (nee Stafford) were married at St Mary’s Church, in Wistaston by the Rev Morgan-Wynne on Tuesday January 22 1952.

The best man was Reg Hinett and both sets of parents were present at the wedding.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
