Nantwich Town is calling on residents to donate unwanted football kits to help families in poor countries.

The Dabbers are backing a new Evo-Stik Premier League partnership with charity KitAid for the current season.

The charity helps under-privileged children and adults in over 30 countries, and is encouraging people in South Cheshire to get behind it by donating unwanted kits.

The new drive comes after the Weaver Stadium club donated a kit two seasons ago to underprivileged children in Tanzania through charity Tanzed.

Football fans are encouraged to drop off their old football shirts, shorts, boots, keeper gloves and shin pads at the Club Shop at the Weaver Stadium where they will be packaged up by the Evo-Stik League and sent to KitAid.

Alan Allcock, operations manager for Evo-Stik Premier League, said: “We’re taking this opportunity to appeal to local people to consider donating their old kit to a really worthy cause. Just give it a wash and drop it off at Nantwich Town and we’ll do the rest.”

KitAid, which has Graham Taylor OBE as its patron, has sent out over 150,000 kits worldwide.

Derrick Williams MBE, KitAid’s founder, added: “We’re delighted Nantwich Town and the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League is working with us to give our campaign a boost and with such a strong fan base, I am sure plenty of kit will be donated.”

The club will be accepting donations until the end of the 2011/12 season.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
