A cheque for £2,435 was presented to Brigadier Rodney Walker of the Army Benevolent Fund after a fund-raising event at Richmond Village Nantwich.

Guests raised money fo the Soldiers Charity at a black tie benefit ball.

They included Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs, MP Edward Timpson, Nantwich deputy mayor Graham Fenton and Richmond Village sales and development director Paul Jackson.

It was attended by more than 70 people who bid for prizes donated by local businesses

Richmond Village adviser Nicola Tooke said: “We were delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause and would like to thank everyone who made the evening such a success.

“We hope that this will now be an annual event here at our Village.”

Meanwhile, a staff raffle at Richmond Village Nantwich also raised over £150 for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice.

The prizes, including a Kindle, Sat Nav and iPod, were bought with award points collected by the Village’s hospitality team.

Hospitality manager Debbie Mercandelli said: “We all thought it would be a lovely idea to redeem the points earned over the year in a way that would also raise money for charity.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
