Nantwich Town’s prolific striker Ben Mills could be about to leave the club for League Two Macclesfield Town, it emerged tonight.

The Dabbers received a formal offer for Mills from Macclesfield over the New Year period.

And the Weaver Stadium club today announced that a “tentative” deal has been agreed for Mills after further negotiations were held.

If Mills can agree personal terms, he would be sold for an undisclosed fee which would be enhanced based on appearances and any future sell ons.

A spokesman for the club said tonight: “We have given permission for Macclesfield to speak with Ben regarding personal terms.

“Ben is one of the leading scorers in the Evo-Stik Premier Division with 12 goals.

“The club is very keen to help Ben achieve his ambitions of playing league football whilst at the same time ensuring the best interests of the club are also considered.”

If he leaves, many may see it as a blow to Nantwich’s hopes of gaining promotion or a playoff place.

Mills has cemented himself as a fans’ favourite this season, forging a strong forward line with Michael Lennon.

Only last week he revealed his relief at ending a barren scoring spell when he netted in their impressive 2-0 Boxing Day defeat of Stafford Rangers.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
