A Nantwich man has been arrested after a road accident on the A530 Middlewich Road which left another man dead.

The 21-year-old driver of a Mercedes van was arrested after the fatal collision close to Alvaston Hall Hotel earlier today (December 17).

The white ‘Sprinter’ van was travelling away from Nantwich at around 7am when it attempted to overtake another vehicle travelling in the same direction.

At this point, the van was in collision with a male pedestrian who was walking along the A530 on the Nantwich-bound carriageway.

The pedestrian, who has not be named, was killed in the collision.

Cheshire Police arrested the van driver on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Inquiries are ongoing to locate the dead man’s next of kin.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Sgt Carl Bailey, at Eastern Traffic Unit, on 101 quoting incident 322 of 17th December.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
