Nantwich Town and Buxton played out a stalemate on a windy afternoon at the Weaver Stadium.

Fine saves by the goalkeepers prolonged Dabbers’ winless run in the Evo-Stik Premier League.

Neither side could dominate the early stages with the wind making it hard to retain possession, although Buxton’s James Baxendale was close to breaking the deadlock on the quarter hour, his rasping half volley was well saved by Jon Brain.

The Dabbers will argue they should have taken the lead on 30 minutes when Michael Lennon turned Tommy Agus in the area and slotted home past Scott Hartley.

But that goal was controversially chalked off by referee Gareth Hughes who had adjudged Lennon had backed into the defender.

Minutes later came Buxton’s best chance of the game when all-time leading scorer Mark Reed blasted over an open goal after good work from Kieran Lugsden down the right hand side.

Buxton started the brighter in the second half but it was Nantwich who again could have taken the lead, Sean Cooke’s chip was glanced just wide by substitute Ben Mills.

The final attack of the game nearly gave the visitors a last gasp victory, the impressive Steve Ridley broke down the left and cut back for Lugsden who was again stopped by Brain.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
