Hundreds braved the chilly wind to watch the Christmas Lights switch on and firework display in Crewe town centre.

The event took place on the main square in the town centre, with the cast of this year’s pantomime – Snow White – starting the countdown and switching on the lights.

The town’s Mayor Cllr Roy Cartlidge also helped during the switch-on at 6.30pm last night (Thursday November 24).

It was followed by a spectacular fireworks show organsied by Crewe-based company Blitz Fireworks with the display launched from the Crewe Town Clock.

Visitors also took advantage of the many shops which remained open for late night shopping.

Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on takes place on Saturday December 3 from around 4pm, in the town square.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
