Blyth FA Cup - Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium, pre-season games, community football

Nantwich Town slumped to a 2-1 defeat away at lowly Burscough – who have won just two games all season, both against the Dabbers.

The FA Cup hangover continues in Nantwich’s Evo-Stik Premier League form, with a second consecutive defeat on the road.

Sean Cooke had put Jimmy Quinn’s side in front as early as the 14th minute, and they thought they had doubled the advantage but Michael Lennon’s effort was ruled offside.

Then minutes later the hosts were level when Mark Beesley fired home on 34 minutes.

He went on to double his tally and give Burscough a half-time lead, making it 2-1 in the 44th minute.

The Dabbers piled on the pressure in the second half and should have equalised from the penalty spot but the kick was missed.

Second from bottom Burscough held out for a much needed three points, only their third victory in 21 league matches.

Nantwich remain in 10th spot on 26 points alongside four other teams, but are now eight points adrift of the play-off places.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
