Richmond Village Nantwich hosted a black tie benefit ball in aid of the ABF The Soldiers Charity.

Around 75 guests enjoyed the event, including Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire David Briggs (pictured, left), Nantwich MP Edward Timpson and Deputy Mayor of Nantwich Graham Fenton.

A three-course dinner was served while guests were serenaded by local DJ and Entertainer Chris Radford.

Brigadier Rodney Walker, of the South Cheshire Branch of the ABF, welcomed everyone officially followed by The Lord Lieutenant, President of the South Cheshire Branch.

He explained the ABF is facing unprecedented demands for help from the Army family and that £14 million a year will be needed by 2015.

There was a charity auction with prizes including a signed Crewe Alexandra shirt, a meal at Residence in Nantwich, a VIP visit to Nantwich Town FC, and a two-hour radio show at Nantwich-based The Cat Radio.

Co-organiser Alison Harding said: “We hope this will be the start of a number of events to help raise awareness and funds for this wonderful charity.”

Richmond Village sales and development director Paul Jackson said: “It was particularly fitting we hosted this event which has helped raise money to help improve the quality of life for soldiers both now and in later life.”

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
