Detectives are probing links between three burglaries on elderly people, including one in Wrenbury near Nantwich.
One of the raids has left a 107-year-old householder seriously ill in hospital after she confronted the burglars.
In the Wrenbury incident, an elderly couple were confronted in their own home by two men.
The crooks continued to search the property and stole cash despite being disturbed during the break in at about 8.10pm last Saturday October 1.
Police believe this incident may be linked to a similar offence in Malpas an hour later when a couple in their 80s were confronted by three men who stole cash.
They also fear a link to a third raid in Huxley, in which 107-year-old Gladys Hewitt frightened off burglars.
Mrs Hewitt fell and was injured during the ordeal as she tried to raise the alarm. She is now in hospital seriously ill, say relatives.
Det Sgt Chris Williams said: “This is probably one of the most emotive offences you can have because they are targeting the most vulnerable people in society.”
