Jimmy Tarbuck OBE was back in Crewe to spread laughter and smiles across the Lyceum.

Tarby interacted with the audience in his show ‘This is My Life’, he welcomed and encouraged questions from those present, sharing jokes and stories about his career, school days and family life.

The iconic comedian led the audience through the performance by showing photographs and clips from various stages in his career.

Sometimes when things went right, like scoring a winning goal at Wembley during a charity football match.

Sometimes when things went wrong, like the clip from “Winner Takes All” when, as host, Tarby falls into fits of laughter at one on the guests.

Paying tribute to his comedy heroes, Tarby spoke with warmth and affection and shared stories about his working relationship with legends like Eric Sykes, Tommy Cooper, Eric Morcambe and Les Dawson.

When asked by a member of the audience, he also paid tribute to modern comedians John Bishop, Peter Kay and Billy Connolly.

Tarby finished his encore by thanking the audience, and urging them to continue to support the Lyceum, saying that it would be a shame to lose such a beautiful, historic building.

I’d never seen Jimmy Tarbuck live on stage before,  and he was much funnier than I thought he would be.

The modern quest for talent and entertainment shows could still learn a lot from Tarby.

And if he ever comes back to the Lyceum, I’ll be in the queue to get my ticket.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
