Angry residents are objecting to plans to build more than 20 homes on land near a railway line in Nantwich.

Arley Homes North West have submitted plans to Cheshire East Council to erect 21 homes and associated parking on land off Hastings Road (pictured).

Developers say the new scheme would provide more affordable homes in Nantwich.

But nearby residents have voiced their fears over further developments in the town.

Several residents on nearby Newhaven Court have lodged formal objections.

Neil Hodges said: “By agreeing to this development you will be seriously devaluing the already established flats/houses on Newhaven Court and the surrounding Nantwich area, which has an adverse effect on helping the housing market.

“There are an abundance of houses and flats for sale especially in the Stapeley area which is a five-minute walk across the railway line from the proposed site, why will this development be any different?”

Fellow resident Simon Reichenfeld added: “There is a surplus of unsold property in this vicinity, the existing access via Hastings Road is already severely congested, and further development will only serve to exacerbate an already unacceptable situation for the existing residents of both Hastings Road and Newhaven Court.”

Bosses at Network Rail have also objected, claiming plans show developers encroaching on land owned by the rail organisation.

Public consultation continues until September 28 before planners make a decision.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
