Nantwich-based radio station The Cat has been awarded a £2,000 grant from the Co-Operative Group’s Community Fund.

Crewe & Nantwich Community Radio Society, which operates as The Cat from its two studios in Nantwich, received the cheque from the Co-Operative Local Area Committee, representing the North West and North Midlands Region.

Secretary Jen Van-Cauter, who made the application, said: “We are so happy to have been awarded this grant.

“The society is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise and our funds come from member subscriptions, support from local businesses who advertise on the station and fundraising events organised by the members.

“This will be a major boost to us and we will use it towards the rent of our premises at Princess Court.”

The Cat can be heard via www.thisisthecat.com, and the last seven days of programming can also be heard using the “Listen Again” feature.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
