A man and his dog will be completing a gruelling 100-mile course around Cheshire to raise money for the county’s search and rescue team.

Dominique Shrubb (pictured) has been training for six months for the challenge which will see him cycle 64 miles, run 26 miles and kayak 10 miles.

He is hoping to complete it in less than 24 hours, and will be joined for some of the challenge by Tess, one of the search dogs for Cheshire Search and Rescue Team.

She will be doing a double doggie marathon – 26 miles running and running alongside Dom for 16 miles biking and 10 miles kayaking.

Dom, a member of Cheshire Search and Rescue (SAR), said: “Tess and I have been training hard for this event as we want to raise as much money as we can for the search team which is a charity.

“I go running regularly so I thought I would turn this into a challenge and raise money. Tess loves being out with me and as a search dog is very fit too.

“I’m sure she’ll enjoy being on the challenge with me and will no doubt be first across the line!”

Money raised wil go towards the team’s control unit which is vital for the effective management of searches.

The challenge will start from Preston Brook early on Saturday September 17, and finish in Daresbury 24 hours later.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
