Nantwich Town were beaten 4-3 for the second consecutive league game in a topsy-turvy encounter at home to Burscough.

The Dabbers at one point trailed 4-1, but scored two goals in a minute to give themselves a chance with 20 minutes left.

The defeat will leave a sour taste in manager Jimmy Quinn’s mouth and he will reflect on some his side’s defensive frailties which plagued the team last season.

Burscough took the lead after 20 minutes when Kevin Leadbetter fired home in front of just 200 supporters at the Weaver Stadium.

Sean Cooke bagged the first of two for Nantwich, levelling on 34 minutes.

But the visitors took control when Mark Beesley scored two minutes before the break, and William Jones made it 3-1 a few minutes after the restart.

Nantwich huffed and puffed, but it was Burscough who seemingly put themselves out of sight in the 66th minute when Beesley grabbed his second.

But 60 seconds later, Cooke completed his brace for Nantwich and fans had hardly caught their breath when leading scorer Ben Mills made it 4-3 a minute later.

Despite pressure and chances, Burscough’s defence and keeper stood firm in the final 21 minutes to secure all three points.

The defeat leaves Nantwich in 16th position qwith just seven points from eight league games.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
