A fatal road accident in Middlewich has caused long delays for many Nantwich commuters

The accident happened when a car collided with a petrol tanker on the B5081 near to the junction with Centurion Way, Middlewich.

The driver of the car, who has not been named, was killed.

The accident happened at about 6am today (September 6) and the road has been closed to allow forensics to examine the scene.

Diversions are in place on routes in and out of Middlewich.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes as it is impacting on major routes into Middlewich, including the A530 from Nantwich, and the M6.
