Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

RAMBLING WITH THE CREWE AND NANTWICH RAMBLING CLUB

On Sunday May 12th the Crew and Nantwich Rambling Club enjoyed a pleasant walk around Ramsbottom near Bury
Ramsbottom is situated on the course of the River Irwell in the West Pennine Moors. The name Ramsbottom is believed to derive from the Old English words ramm and botm, meaning “valley of the ram”. A thriving market town in spectacular surroundings the local skyline of Ramsbottom is dominated by the Peel Monument which stands on Holcombe Moor, a memorial to Sir Robert Peel, the 19th-century British Prime Minister and creator of the modern British police force. This tower was the target for the rambling group.
After a steady climb out of Ramsbottom the group headed for the monument where they enjoyed a welcome break and lunch. From this location there are spectacular views over West Yorkshire, North Lancashire, Greater Manchester, North Wales and the Lancashire Plain. From the top of the tower it is possible to see Blackpool Tower on a clear day.
After lunch the group headed back down into the town where they enjoyed the hospitality of the Railway Hotel before rejoining their coach for their trip back to Crew and Nantwich with their trusty driver Gordon.
On Sunday May 26th the Crewe and Nantwich Rambling Club will be heading for Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Ashbourne is one of the market towns in the Derbyshire Dales, England and is famous for its historic annual Shrovetide football match it is also known as the ‘Gateway to the Peak District’.
There will be three walks to choose from of six, nine and twelve miles.
Travel will be by coach, departing from Nantwich Bus Station with pick-ups at Wells Green, the former Earl of Crewe pub and Crewe Library.
Rambles are held fortnightly on Sundays throughout the year and there are also evening rambles on alternate Thursdays during the summer months. New members of all ages are very welcome.
